Some of you may remember the ambitious Summer 2010 City Hitlist that I made back in March. Well, it is almost November and I still haven't completed it (although that's not entirely my fault) and I probably won't complete it this year.
But! Since I made that 13-city-long list in March, I have made progress, and added quite a few cities to the list! Paul and I hit New York in May. We hit Albuquerque when we drove from Provo to San Angelo. We live in San Angelo. We hit San Antonio in September. We hit Dallas and Jackson Mississippi on our way to Montgomery. Since then, we've hit Atlanta and Birmingham. Let's see, that brings us up to 6 out of the original 13 cities, plus 3 others.
We're going to hit Florida before we leave the south (probably Pensacola, unless someone can convince us they know of a better beach). Our trip back to San Angelo will take us through New Orleans and Houston on our anniversary weekend. (We always have the longest road trips on important weekends: July 4th, conference, and now our anniversary.) With those cities we will have hit 8 of the 13, plus 4 others. That's pretty good I'd say!
I don't mind that we missed Cheyenne, but I would've liked to have seen Denver, Kansas City, Memphis (or Nashville), and especially St. Louis. I'm sure Paul wouldn't mind either, but he hates driving, and sometimes we get lost (even though I just purchased a 2011 road atlas).
Let it be known that Paul and I have now been to 10 states together since we've been married. In order, they are Oregon, Hawaii, Idaho, Utah, New York, New Mexico, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Add Florida and Louisiana to the mix and that is 12 in one year. If we keep that up we will have visited all 50 states in less than 5 years! Scoff, Paul will love that.
See, Paul doesn't have the same love of traveling that I do. Don't get me wrong, he likes it well enough if we don't get lost, and he doesn't have to drive. Usually I make him drive (almost always), and we do get lost because I am an indecisive navigator (the abbigator ... funny). This results in frustration from both of us, and we all know that frustration with your travel buddy equals bad news.
But hey, no worries. Because, let me be the first to make it known, we are the proud soon-to-be owners of a ...

Perhaps if you drove and he navigated you wouldn't get so frustrated. Just a thought.
You should call me sometime.
