Montgomery, AL

Well we're done with our stint in Montgomery.  There were a lot of great things about it, but I gotta say, I will definitely NOT miss this:

The hotel was pretty small but we had the necessities.  Let's just say I'm glad we have a regular-sized kitchen again.  and that we don't have to wake up to that gross poop smell that happened in the mornings.

I liked Montgomery well enough, and the base was much nicer than here in San Angelo.  We didn't do anything too exciting, but we did go to the zoo.  The animals were cool.

When we went there was no one there!  It's a pretty big zoo too.  Honestly we were probably 2 of 10 people that were at the zoo that day.   Weird.

ASBC wasn't the worst thing in the world.  We got to know some nice people!  Here are some shots of Paul and his flight during the Icarus tournament.

They did pretty good! ... well they won a game! (Icarus is just a random team sport that's supposed to be similar to a "mission" or something.  It has weird rules, but it's fun to watch).  Their flight number was 807 so I made them a poster.  :)

I learned how to play Crud in Montgomery (another random game that has weird rules but is fun to watch), and I got to know some other young wives.  We went shopping and had lunch and watched soaps and ate bon-bons.  Okay, half of that statement is true.  I'll let you figure out which half.  I enjoyed the gym, and the weather, and the cable TV.  And Paul and I had a lot of free time together.  So overall we had a good experience.

I have to add that if you are ever in Montgomery DO NOT got to the Piggly Wiggly.  Just trust me.

Anniversary

Gosh, this makes me happy:

Well, a year ago I married this man, Paul.  He is the funniest guy ever.  He is always making me laugh and always making me feel so good.

I just love being with him.

He gives good hugs.  He is patient.  He's so easy to talk to and he's smart.  He cooks.

He gets me flowers because he knows I like them.

He drives.  He is a good driver.

He lets me be goofy and gets goofy with me, and I think he likes it.

He gives me scritchy scratches.  Whenever I ask.  And he's good at them.

He wakes me up to tell me he loves me before he leaves in the morning.

I've always thought that there is someone for everyone and let's just say Paul is for me!  Isn't that nice?  Paul is just for me, only me, and for always.

The Google Game

I am just a little bored today so I thought I'd find a game/survey to share.  This was my favorite.  You Google these things and then post the pictures.  If the topic was favorite sport I would Google "tennis" and then post one of the images.  Like so:

My Favorite Sport:

I spent a while picking out these pictures, so I hope you learn something about me.  Hehe.  Now I think I will go play the other Google game.  The "Abby likes/eats/jumps on/needs" game.  Yay!  Enjoy.

Pensacola, FL

Paul and I had the most relaxing weekend at Pensacola Beach in Florida.  The weather sat right in the mid-70's and the water was warm, calm, and perfect for swimming.  We like to jump and make big splashes as the waves break on us.  We saw some fish up close (as in swimming between our feet), and we saw two crabs fighting!  We had fun collecting shells and decorating our sand fortress with them; I was sad to leave them behind.  There weren't a lot of people (just thong-man and a few others) so we had a lot of sand to play with since the beach goes on forever.  It was great to be silly and to just relax and lay around on the beach.  We drove home to The Beach Boys.

Birmingham, AL

Paul and I went to the Birmingham Temple last weekend.  It was beautiful!

We figured out that the Birmingham Temple and Montgomery are closer to each other than the Lubbock Temple and San Angelo.  It only took about 1.5 hours to get there, whereas it would take 3+ hours to get to Lubbock (or San Antonio for that matter) from San Angelo.  Although, I'd say it is always worth the drive. :)

I got tagged

Here are the answers to your questions, Allison.

1. Assuming your life had a soundtrack, what song would accompany the happiest moments and what song would accompany the most embarrassing ones? Why?

Happiest moments: Wouldn't it be Nice by The Beach Boys, because this song actually was playing during some of the happiest moments of my life.  Also, if Paul and I had "a song" it would be this one.

Most embarrassing moment: Teardrops on My Guitar by Taylor Swift.  If you know what my most embarrassing moment is then you understand why I picked this song.  Two words: teenage angst.

2. Would you rather live your entire life in Pocatello, Idaho or Beaver, Utah?

That's a hard one considering I've never been to either city.  But, I'd probably pick Pocatello.  Paul's family (extended included) lives in Idaho.  Idaho is closer to my home too.  Also, more people live in Pocatello.  ALSO, who chooses to live in Utah??

3. If you could travel through time, to which era would you want to travel and who would you want to meet?

I don't like this question.  Can I go anywhere?
Maybe I'd like to go to the 1940's and meet with Roosevelt and Truman, Churchill, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini.  Or maybe I'd like to go to Victorian England and have tea with the queen.

Upon further reflection, I decided that I would like to travel to the future and meet myself. ;)

4. Which sister [from Little Women] do you identify with most and why do you think that is?

Meg.  Because I don't really identify with Amy or Jo, and I don't think I'm as good as Beth.  Which one do you think I am most like?

a TLA

Some of you may remember the ambitious Summer 2010 City Hitlist that I made back in March.  Well, it is almost November and I still haven't completed it (although that's not entirely my fault) and I probably won't complete it this year.

But!  Since I made that 13-city-long list in March, I have made progress, and added quite a few cities to the list!  Paul and I hit New York in May.  We hit Albuquerque when we drove from Provo to San Angelo.  We live in San Angelo.  We hit San Antonio in September.  We hit Dallas and Jackson Mississippi on our way to Montgomery.  Since then, we've hit Atlanta and Birmingham.  Let's see, that brings us up to 6 out of the original 13 cities, plus 3 others.

We're going to hit Florida before we leave the south (probably Pensacola, unless someone can convince us they know of a better beach).  Our trip back to San Angelo will take us through New Orleans and Houston on our anniversary weekend.  (We always have the longest road trips on important weekends: July 4th, conference, and now our anniversary.)  With those cities we will have hit 8 of the 13, plus 4 others.  That's pretty good I'd say!

I don't mind that we missed Cheyenne, but I would've liked to have seen Denver, Kansas City, Memphis (or Nashville), and especially St. Louis.  I'm sure Paul wouldn't mind either, but he hates driving, and sometimes we get lost (even though I just purchased a 2011 road atlas).

Let it be known that Paul and I have now been to 10 states together since we've been married.  In order, they are Oregon, Hawaii, Idaho, Utah, New York, New Mexico, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.  Add Florida and Louisiana to the mix and that is 12 in one year.  If we keep that up we will have visited all 50 states in less than 5 years!  Scoff, Paul will love that.

See, Paul doesn't have the same love of traveling that I do.  Don't get me wrong, he likes it well enough if we don't get lost, and he doesn't have to drive.  Usually I make him drive (almost always), and we do get lost because I am an indecisive navigator (the abbigator ... funny).  This results in frustration from both of us, and we all know that frustration with your travel buddy equals bad news.

But hey, no worries.  Because, let me be the first to make it known, we are the proud soon-to-be owners of a ...
